The following forecast was issued at 9 a.m. to-doy for the ensuing 24 hours:—

Winds.—Northerly, strong to gale, backing to westerly northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and by west to southerly "elsewhere.

Barometer.—Falling tendency, but risin" shortly in the South.

Seas.—Heavy southward of Castlcpoint and southward of Cape Egmont; considerable elsewhere.

Tides.—High on all the eastern coast; .good elsewhere.

Warning signals Tor northerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Bieman, Tiritirl, Castlepoint, Cape Campbell. Stephen Island, Farewell Spit, Cape Foulwind and Nugget Point.

Weather.—Unsettled and cloudy weather, with rain probable generally.
