WITH LABOUR IN POWER

EXPENDITURE EXCEEDS

REVENUE.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIOHT.)

(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, Ist October. The revenue returns for tho first half of the year, to 30th September, show that the revenue was nearly $12,000,000 below the expenditure, compared with the surplus of £3,000,000 of revenue above expenditure in the corresponding period in 1923.

The newspapers give prominence to the figures, in view of the Labour Administration, but they point out it is not safe to draw definite conclusions, as the second half of the year may possibly alter the position.

Considerable reductions in taxation were made in the first Labour Budget.
