PROTECTION OF ANIMALS

The fortnightly meeting of the committee of the S.P.C.A. was held on Monday, when Mr. W. Watson presided over a good attendance of members.

It was reported by' the inspector that a number of cases of cruelty had been reported to him, and all had been investigated, and steps taken to prevent any further cruelty. Since the previous meeting visits had been paid to the Levin and Hut districts, and the usual inspections carried out jn the town and suburbs. In one case in which the owneis had persisted in cruelty to a horse, after being cautioned, it had been necessary to : take out a summons against the offenders.
