CUSTOMS REVENUE
AN ALL-ROUND INCREASE.
Compared with the figures for the same period last year, the amount of Customs duty collected at the Port of Wellington during the nino months ending 30th September, shows a substantial increase in almost every quarter. The figures for the two periods are:— Quarter ended March, 1924: £539 924 • March, 1923, £480,207. June, 1924 £475,878; June, 1923, £433,502. September, 1924, £612,010; Septombor, 1923,
Last month the amount of Customs duty collected was £213,571, as compared with £162,874, for September of last year.
Beer duty has also' increased to a large extent us in comparison with the same period last year, as the following figures will show:—Quarter ended March, 1924, SML ,Mardh' 1923> fiIVW- June 1924, £15,307; June, 1923, £12,438 September 1924, £12,534; September, 1923, £11,149. q In the month just ended, beer duty to the amount of £7186 was collected, as compared with £3509 in September, 1923
