MURITAI CLUB,

The annual meeting of the Muritai Tennis Club was, held in the Eastbourne Council Chambers.

Mr. C. T. Andrew was in the chair. Owing to the rough weather there was only a fair attendance of members. •The annual report and balance-sheet showed that the club was in a very satisfactory position financially. Several matches with other clubs were played during the season,, and in all of them the club's representatives were successful. During the Christmas holidays a most successful hard .court tournament was held at Eastbourne. It is hoped to make this .an annual event until the Lawn Tennis Association is able to make the Miramar courts available for tournament purposes. Owing to a new court being now available for play the club has about twenty vacancies for new members.

. The thanks of the club were tendered to Mass™. H. W. Shortt and E. Holmwood for donations.

, The following were elected officers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. T. M Wilford, M.P.; president, Mr. H. W Shortt; vice-presidents, Messrs. E Holmwood, J. E. Staples, F. H. Mather, ii. M. Jones, A. Walker, A. James; hon solicitor, Mr. D. Perry; hon. auditor, Mr. J. W. F. Marsdeu; management committeee, Mrs. E. W. Shortt, Miss Shortt, Mossrs. O. B. M'Donald T Auton, and E. Shortt; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. W. Cawley; hon. secretary, Mr. C. 1. Andrew; delegates to the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association Mossrs. E. Shortt and C. T. Andrew ' Saturday, 4th October, was decided upon as the club's opening day. There will bo a Yankee tournament on Labour Day. The chairman stated that the prospects lor the coming year pointed to a successful season, and, as the club was now affihatod with the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, it was proposed to arrange a scries of tournaments and interclub matches.
