FINE ARTS EXHIBITION

Tho annual exhibition of tho Academy, now open in tho Art Gallery, Whitmora street, continues to attract large numbers of visitors, and many of the works shown have found purchasers. At a meeting of tho council held last evening it was doeided to acquiro for the permanent collection a wntor colour drawing by M. 0. Stoddart, entitled "Roses." Miss Stoddart has for many years been a regular contributor to the exhibitions of the Academy, and this well-merited recognition of hor work by the council will be acclaimed by art lovers generally. The exhibition will doso with the drawing of the public art union on Saturday evening next.
