One of tho'largest arid most representative., gatherings of fruitgrowers ever ilie!3"at 'Stoke took place last evening. -_Mrr'-A-llen'-and Colonel- Gray; of • the Fruit Control Board, addressed the meeting. It was unanimously resolved "t|iat a clause be inserted in the' Fruit Control Bill ensuring a grower's right to dispose of his fruit by private treaty, provided that, such sales are made at a price not lower than those fixed by .; the board, the board to be notified of ;the : place and quantity to be shipped. :It was resolved by 27 votes to 14 "that, failing iho insertion of tho clause in question, the meeting approves the Control Bill, and is prepared to accept it as it stands."
, The feeling of the meeting was unanimously in-favour of control, provided that provision was made for the disposal of. fruit by private treaty, but hot below Control Board prices. Colonel :Gray said that this was quite jn keeping with the control policy. °
