EMPHATIC PROTEST
BY PUBLIC SERVANTS AT OAMARU.

. OAMARU, 26th September. At a combined meeting of Public servants last,evening the following resolution was carried unanimously :—"That this combined meeting of Public servants of Oamaru enters an emphatic protest against any further reduction in direct taxation in view of the failure of the Government to restore wages cuts; and, further, we are of opinion that a further reduction of taxation will only throw the buiden upon the shoulders of consumers per medium of Customs duties, thus further reducing purchasing power to the detriment o£ Uio reluil trad*."-
