The report of the committee on church union between the Presbyterian, Methodist, and Congregational Churches in Australia has been presented to the Presbyterian Assembly. It stated, inter alia, that the fact that there is such a divided state of. feeling and ,opinion among, the office-bearers and people of the Presbyterian Church over the. question of bringing about an organic unionmakes it inadvisable for the present to press . forward ■to organic union on a common basis of doctrine and policy at the risk of a serious division "and fresh ..separation. The. committee, therefore, recommended that the' nego.tiations should be suspended:
