Probably the most (interesting programme of the season will _bo presented, including Mendelsohns exquisite "Midsummer Nijrht's Dream overture, a work (although wviUen wlieu this musical genius was still in his teens; that is looked bpori !■« one of his grealest masterpieces' -Another notable Feature will be the first performance of "I/Arlesiemie," suite'by bwet, the composer of "Carmen." The orchestral colouring i» this composition is.-truly enchanting, especially in the qanitly beautiful effects produced by the wood-wind. Among other items of interest. will be a fantasia on Verdi'a world-renowned opera "Rigoletto," and a welcome revival of the overture "Fii delio _' by Beethoven.
