CHRISTCHURCH, Ist Sept. : At a meeting of the Court, of Directors.of the Royal Humane Society ol Aew ZeaJaod, Sir James 'Gunson;- Mayor' of Auckland, forwarded a letter /from one of the members of the rescue pai-ty' at the' Huntly mine disaster in June/ 1914, sugge»tmg that the society should give awards in recognition of bravery shown by members of the rescue party, lhe writer stated that a very short time" a«er.the.Bellbird" disaster in New South Wales the rescuers had been recognised by the Royal Humane.- Society. The chairman" said the constitution of the .society did not allow them to deal .with .applications for awards in respect ot acts of bravery performed further back than twelve months ■-■ ■. .It was decided-to reply .that, the society regretted yery deeply that owing to the lapse, of :time the cdnstitution of' the society would not permit it to consider the case. : ' . . ■ ■
