AUCKLAND, Ist September. A very fine performance was registereii at Middlemore during. the week-end by H. U. Macfarlane, the Christchurch golfer, who- is one of the competitors in the New Zealand championship tournament,, which opens on Friday. , • • ■ Macfarlane went found for •'. the excellent score of '71, the first eight. holes being particularly brilliant. Ten professionals and about six ama-' teur players, -who: will compete .at the championship, meeting; have arrived at Auckland, and visited -Midaiemoro dur.ms, the week-end.
