NEW ZEALAND CONTROL.
The periodical meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.was held last evening,when Mr. A. T. Davies presided. Messrs. H. Amos,: A. B. Sievwright, F. Wilson, H. W. Thompson, and V. Hugo (hon. secretary) were also'1 present. : ■ ■ -' ' ■' •■ ■'-■]■ .-'■. :.
The chairman reported that a'number of matters, including the proposed visit of Nurmi, were held up owing to delegates from Australia not having returned from Europe*.
Wellington Centre wrote suggesting that the council'should take action with a view to bringing an team of Olympic Games representatives to 'New Zealand.' The centre also suggested that: the. council should discuss the. method jof financing a fitting team for the "gamesin 1928. ;. The former matter was deferred pending the chairman attending a meeting of the centre. The second matter was referred to the Olympic Council. . ." . Tapp, the: Otago winner, had apparently made, a ' considerable improvement since the New .Zealand team went tovAustralia last-year. . , . Canterbury applied for permission to hold a 50-mile, New Zealand amateur cycling championship ,(road race) from A.shburton to Christchurch. • The council considered, that if such a championship -were inaugurated, it would have to be Allocated annually.
