UNAPPRECIATED HUMOUR
A little humour on the part of the member for Eotorua (Mr. F:\E. ■ Hockly) did not appear to be appreciated by the Minister of, Public Works in.the House of Representatives last eveninsr. ;
During' the discussion upoiV the Engineers' Registration Bill, Mr. Hockly drew attention to .the definition, of "recognised certificate" in the Act as a certificate granted by some university, college, or other public institution. He pointed out that a State school was a public institution,. vand- he ■■ asked the Minister if a'Standard IV. certificate would be acceptable. The Minister:'"What on earth are you talking about?" . • •■/. Mr. .Hockly repeated his question, and the Minister put his'reply in two words —"Certainly,, not." ,
