MELBOURNE, 26th August. The police regard tho murder of the boy Mouat as the act of a maniacal pervert. They' state' that the actual cause of death was strangulation :or suffocation, which was probably effected before the body was mutilated. Apparently the child Vvas first dumped face downwards >in a muddy pool. .The mutilations would, however, have been sufficient in themselves to cause death. No clue (,o tho perpetrator has been discovered yet. . - .
