LOST IN THE DESERT
MISSING ARMY AVIATORS . DESCENT IN A SANDSTORM/ . (ONITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIRIOHT.) ' (PUBLISHED IN THE TIMES.) (Received Ist August, 10. a.m.) LONDON, 31st July. Bagdad reports state that, through being caught a few days ago in the desert by a sandstorm,* two Royal Air Force officers, . Flight-Lieutenant, . Day and Pilot-Officer Stewart, were forced to land 18 miles south of the Basra-Nasi-riyeh railway line. The machine has since been found, damaged, but searches failed .to trace the officers, and it is feared that.they perished in endeavouring to reach the railway.
