EMPRESS THEATRE.
Emory Johnson's latest effort is "Westbound Limited," which commenced at . the Empress Theatre to-day. The great outstanding figure is the veteran engineer, Bill Buck, with great love for his fellow-man, for all humanity, and justly proud of his little family. The picture is said to abound in thrills. There is a great race between v an express train and a highpowered automobile with a thrilling rescue of a girl from under the wheels of the engine. Then' there is stilU a greater thrill when a tremendous forest fire comes sweeping towards tho railroad track just in time to save two railroad trains from crashing into each other. Against the stupendous melodramatic features of the picture is a beautiful and well-defined love story, with added little human touches and bursts of humour that give the production, as a whole, a . tremendous appeal. Ralph Lewis, as the engineer, does splendid work, as do all the principals in the cast. The supporting programme will include a nature study, "The May .Fly, a Mack Sennett comedy,' featuring Ben Turpin, and a news film. ' The box plan is at the theatre.
