BOER WAR VETERANS
DELEGATES IN CONFERENCE.
A conference o£ the delegates of the South African War Veterans' Association met' in the Lyceum Club room, Manners street, to-day. The chair was occupied by tho president, Mr. J. A. Simpson. The following delegates were present : Mr. A. J. Kirkliam (Hastings), A. de Launay (representing South Taranaki. Stratford, and Hawera districts), T. W. M'Whirter (Eltham), Major E. G. Frafier (Auckland), G. N. Cresswell (Christclmrch), K. G. Malcolm (Wangaiiiii), T. Fletcher (Waipukurau), Lirut-Colonel D. C. -Bates and Captain J. J. Clark (Wellington), Dr. Falconer (Dunedin), H. C. Thompson (Timaru), Major Bos worth (Pahnerston North), and Rev. A. W. H. Compton (Gisborne).
Tho . report and balance-sheet were adopted, and various remits were considered.
Mr. W. Tilling was appointed secretary and treasurer to the association. A deputation consisting of Messrs. J. J. Glarl^ do Launay, J. A. Simson, and Major Eraser was appointed to interview tno Prime Minister on matters connected with the association. It was proposed to ask that the provisions of the D.S.S. Act, which only need to be brought into force by Order-in-Council, be issued by proclamation at once. Utner matters concerning pensions and disables are also to be brought forward by the deputation. Mesdames D. C. Bates and J.. J. Uark are entertaining the delegates at an at home'! this afternoon, the local members and their wives being invited, and this evening the Wellington branch is giving a smoke concert for the visit-
