The fourth round in the A grade in-ter-club matches was fired last week, and the shooting generally was of .a j very fair average. Some of the totals were not up to A grade form, but'still a glance at the scores will show five possibles and sev«i only one off amongst six teams. The performance put up by South Al was a, real good shoot, and the seven men only dropped nine, points. The most exciting match last week was South A 2 and Harbour Board, and the result left South A 2 winners by the narrow margin of one point. The issue was iii doubt right up to the last shut. The Railway, team shut very well m their matoh, and it seems hard that they should suffer in their total because one man is off colour, and has to shoot A pleasing feature of the mter-club matches so far this season is the keenness of ail competitors-and the utmost good feeling between the winners and losers after each match. .Last week's results : INTER-CLUB MATCHES-FOURTH ROUND. - A Grade.

HUTT VALLEY LADIES' CLUB. The above club h'eld its annual ball last week, and the event proved to be i one of the biggest successes yet held;in ! Petone, there being over, one hundred and fifty couples present. The hall wa.s festooned with the club's colours, and by lycopodium, ferns, and foliage. Thpse responsible for the detail work in connection with tho ball should •be highly gratified with the result of their work. The honorary secretary and 'her capable committee are. to be congratulated on the splendid result attained. The following clubs were represented : Port Nicholson, Aotea, Harbour Board, South, Pefcone Ladies', and Pcl'one Men's.

Neill, Cangreve, Ahlers, Caldwell, and Otto'n. Tlie tie for the Congreve Cup was shot off by Morris and Caldwell, arid- Morris won with all Lulls for his shoot, whilst Caldwell scored a 9 for his laet shot. Demont and Franklyn each scored a possible and much credit is due to Mr. Franklyn for his fine scpre, as he was handicapped by having a very &ore arm. The A 2 team visited 11.8. Club, and won the match -by the- narrow margin, of one point. '..A team selected from the club fired a post match against the Crown Brewery Rifle Club, Christchureh, on the I.M.C.A. Range on Friday last. The teams consisted of twelve a-side, ten scores to couut, and seven shots each, me Southern club will shoot on Monday, '28th, and the result should be Known here some time this week.
