PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
Those who lovti a talc about the sea, its way, and the. men who use it will find an appeal in " Loving Lies," which commenced a week's season at the Paramount Theatre last evening. Taken from the pen of Peter B. Kyne, the well-known writer of sea, adventures, " living Lies " is au adaptation of the author's story entitled "The Harbour Par." It deals with the life story o£ Captain D;m Stover (portrayed by Monto Blue), of the tug-Chief, which is stationed on ono of the lumber bays in the timber district of America. The entrance to tbe harbour is obstructed '■y a, dangerous bar, and it is one of Cap n Stover's duties to safely pilot the ship through the entrance. On dark and stormy nights, when duty calls, the captain tells "loving lies " to his wife to allay her fears for his safety. Circumstances so shape themselves that his wife misinterprets his " lies," and, thinking him unfaithful, is induced to elope with an old schoolmate. There is a strong supporting programme, including a comedy and a News. There are also special orchestral numbers, including selections from " The Gondoliers." °
