WEDDINGS

An evening wedding was recently celebrated at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, The Terrace, the Rev. RobS n Orr officiating, when Miss Jessie 1 nilhpps, eldest daughter of Mrs AVil ham Philhpps, of "Parkville," Upper Adelaide road, and the late Mr. William Philhpps, of Waikouaiti,Otago was married to Mr. Monty Saywell, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Saywell, College street, Palmerston North. The bride, who was given away by her brother Mr. W. J. Phillipps, Zre / ° ol ivory satin marocain draped from the shoulders with silver Egyptian lace, -the hand-embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a wreath of silver leaves and side sprays of lily of tho valley She carried a shower bouquet of roses and sweet peas, with dainty white streamers. IJie chief bridesmaid was Miss Myrtle ininipps, who wore a sleeveless draped gown of lavender embossed satin shot with silver. Miss Aida Phillipps also wore a sleeveless gown of pale green embossed satm shot with silver. Both wore sequin bandeaux around their hair with clusters of grapes to tone. The bridesmaids earned shower bouquets of lavender and pink flowers. Bliss Stella inuhpps made a pretty flower <nri in cream velvet frock with wreaths of pink roses round neck and waist. Round her hair was a wreath of roses kept in place with a big pink bow. She carried a dainty basket of pink and white flowers wall p,nk streamers. Mr. R. Rouse was best man, and Mr. L. Udy (Palmerston Aorlu) was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception and dance was held in Dustm s Hall. Mrs. William Phillipps, mother of the bride, wore black satin marocain, embroidered with touches of gold, black hat trimmed with osprevs and carried a bouquet of violets and asparagus. Mrs. T. .R. J.ne bride, who was given away by her father, wore a draped frock of pink orocaded satin, looped on one side with a diamante ornament and on the other with a spray of orange blossom. A veil with a coz-onet of orange blossom was worn, and a shower bouquet carried of pink roses and maidenhair fern Mrs Bertram 'E. Bird (sister) was matron of honour, wearing a frock of moonlightblue tissue, trimmed with yellow and wallflower brown posies, and black and silver hat, and carrying a shower bouquet. Mr. Laurence Turner was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of 'Mr. and Mrs. Bird, Brighton road, Parnell. The bride s mother received the guests, wearing, a nuvy marocaiu dress with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of scarlet roses. Mrs. C. Topliss, Paeroa, a sister of the bride, was amongst the guests.

The marriage of Miss Bernice Evelyn Lois Culver, youngest daughter of Mrs. C. G. Fisher and the late Mr. W. J. Culver, of Palmerston North, to Mr' Bramley, of Wellington, took place 'it the Congregational Church, Newtown, when the Rev.: F. de Lisle officiated. The bride's charming gown was of ivory georgette veiled with silver lace, the hip drapery being caught with roses of pale pink and silver. A veil and orange blossoms were worn, and the bridal bouquet was of cream chrysanthemums and pink roses. Xhe bridesmaids were Miss Marie Fuller, in salmon crepe romaine and a black velvet hat, and bouquet of roses and autumn leaves; Miss Gwen Connell was in lavender marocain with a black hat, and a . bouquet to match. Madge and Mavis Bramley were flower girls in lavender and blue organdi frocks, with Juliet caps to match, and carried flower baskets in the same pretty tones. Mr. William Reeves was the best man, and Mr. Norman Campbell was groomsman. A reception was held at the Newtown Library, at which many friends and relatives were entertained.

The. wedding of Miss Elizabeth' Harriett Morris, daughter of. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Morris, of Brooklyn, to Mr. James Hynian Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Russell, of. The bride's graceful j-owu was of ivory, brocaded crepe dc; chine draped and caught with pearl ornaments. The bouquet carried was of cream roses and chrysanthemums, heliotrope sweet peas, and maidenhair fern, with chiffon streamers. Miss Nellie Morris • was chief bridesmaid, wearing eau do nil ripple satin and silver lace, with a black picture hat. Miss Doris Cox also attended, in apricot ripple satin and black hat. Both carried bouquets of autumn flowers with tulic streamers. Mr. Harold Russell was the best man, and Mr. W. H. Hildreth was groomsman. A. reception was hold at Dustin's Booms after the ceremony, when many relatives and ■friends attended. Mrs. Morris received the gucsbs. wearing a costume «f ua ,vy crepe do chine with bead trimming, and ;i hiit to match. Mrs. Russell was in black oharmeuse and a black hat. The bride and bridegroom left later by motor for the North, the former - wearing a brown gabardine frock and hat °en suite.
