ACIFIC COAST SALVAGE SHIP.
-Hie first fully-equipped salvage ship in -■vice on the Pacific Coast, constructed >m an old American Government pat--1 boat and mine layer, was completed Oakland, California, early this year, le Sea Salvor, as the boat is called, 137 feet long, 30 feet wide, and has gross tonnage of 478. Large oil burnij boilers have been installed in the >at, increasing its sailing radius, so .at it is now capable of making trips fifteen days without refueling. Powerful tug and hoisting engines and achinery have been' fitted to drag recked vessels off the rocks and to ■move cargoes from stranded vessels, igh powered radio equipment has been stalled in the vessel by the Radio ■rporation of America, so that the Sea Ivor's captain and rescue crew will able to get distress signals without a oment's delay. Tho rescue ship has >o been equipped with life-saving apratns, and steam line 3 with hose atchments to smother flames of burning .ssels at sea.
