RECOGNITION INTERNATIONAL TENNIS FEDERATION.
At the annual meeting of the International Lawn Tennis Federation, held vi i aris, Japan and Rumania were elected members, the former to have four V.°^ e% a"? .}*}? lafcter °ne ; states the Daily Mail.
As the applications from Austria and Hungary had not been received in time hut as their entries had been accepted for the Davis Cup and the Olympic Games, the Advisory Committee decided to bring forward the applications under Article 12, requiring a four-fifths maiority. J
_ On the proposal being put to the meeting the voting was 33 in favour and 9 against, and consequently the motion was not carried. Great Britain, Argentina and South Africa voted against the resolution. Those voting in favour of it were Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Holland, Japan, New Zealand, Poland; Rumania. Spain Switzerland, and the United States ' A subsequent resolution was brought forward authorising countries to compete with Austria and Hungary in the Davis Cup and Olympic Games notwithstanding previous resolutions of the federation. This resolution was carried nem con., the representatives of Argentina Great Britain, and South Africa abstaining from voting.
