DESIRABLE DAIRY CATTLE.
The duties of a popular Scottish preacher took him to a certain farm for a christening ceremony. A good many of the farmer's neighbours attended the function and-were regaled with a dinner, to which the minister, who was a great trencherman, did ample justice. As a kind of Deoch-an-doris, the farmer's wife had glasses of creamy milk ready for the parting guests, and, knowing the reverend gentleman's partiality to the "wine of the country," she had privately added a stiff glass of whisky to tho minister's milk.
When he had drained his tumbler he exclaimed, "What a oow !"
