HAMTL-TON, 20th. June,
My. J. A, Yeung, member for Ham> .ilfcaa, in. delivering an address in reply ;to Mb, T, M. Wilford, claimed that the I country Haver had such a capable aad efficient Minister of Finance as Mr. Massey, The Premier had never • been defeated en a no-confidence motion, and the talk about an eariy election appeared absurd, With reference to Mr, Wilford's charge of reckless dealing with the State Advances funds, by taking £2,391,000 from tho Advances Department and putting into the War Loan, Mr. Young claimed these temporary investments were quite legitimate. N,o part of the recently-raised I £5,000,600 loan would be utilised to pay I back to the State Advances Office the | £2,000,600 ef temporary advances, but ; the State Advances Fund would receive 1 £2,000,000 mere cut pf the loan. The mest liberal party in the House was Mr. Massey's party. The Massey Government had husbanded the country's financial resources. Mr. Young was .accorded a vote of thanks and continued confidence.
