DEFECTIVE ELECTRIC LIGHT SYSTEM. (BY TEI.CGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr. Hunt, S.M., delivered judgment in regard to the. recent fire at tho city markets. He found that it started be--; low the ceiling of the premises occupied by the Fruit Case Co. at 2 a.m. on sth April, and was caused by defective installation of this electric light system. A bent elbow of a conduit pipe was found at the place where the .fire originated. i This elbow was fired and burnt right through. There was.no inspection opening in the elbow, as required by the regulations. Three other defects', were found in the installation, . any one of which might have caused a fire, and would have done so sooner or later. The Magistrate was satisfied, that the rules and regulations under the Public Works Act, 1911, for the safety of the lives and property of consumers of electrical energy, had not been properly observed in the district.
