BAD WEATHER SETS IN j FOOTBALL AND WRESTLING. (BX TELEGRAPH.) , (FROM OUR SPECIAL REPORTERS.) PALMERSTON jS\, This Day. : j For the Manawatu Show bad weathet set in, and heavy rain is the prospect for all day. The attendance also is affected by holding the usual dairy conference at Auckland this year. Mr. Middleton, Canterbury delegate to the Dairy Factory Managers' Conference, has moved that all future meetings be held at Palmerston on account of its central position. • i Mr. J. Broadbelt (Levin), at the Manawalu and West Coast Dairy Companies' meeting, stressed the serious position facing the dairy farmer. He predicted lower prices, and urged the raising of the standard of cows. Co-operation in all dairy interests was the only means j to survive the crisis in the industry. Mr. Pacey's resolution to effect uniform grading of milk and cream and- the rejection of cream" and milk refused by one factory was carried. Mr. Singleton, Dairy Commissioner, j said, in view of Argentine competition, ' New Zealand was justified in putting ! her house in order. j The sporting events yesterday were a school football match in the afternoon and a wrestling tournament in the evening. The football match .was between the Palmerston and Wairarapa High Schools, and was a poor substitute for the great annual event, Wanganui Collegiate School v. Te Aute College, which was played elsewhere this year. After a poor'game the Palmerston boys beat Wairarapa by 23 points to 3. On the other hand, the wrestling bouts in the evening, under the auspices of the Manawatu Caledonian Society, were very fine indeed, with hardly a dull moment. All the bouts were extremely well contested. In the heavyweight class, Pat Warbrick (I2st) in the fourth round secured a fall from Captain Smith (15st). Both men are from Hawkes Bay. In the middle-weights, the Maori boy. Rangi (list), aged 16, from Hawkes Bay, secured.two fells over Harold Major, Turakina (list 41b). The winner lias perfect physique, and showed great promise.
