PROSPECTS OF FIJI
TURNING TO NEW PRODUCTS.

Mr. Hedstrcm, a. legislator from Fiji, \ lecturing on Fiji's present develop- I ments and future possibilities, at the Colonial Institute, emphasised that sugar, copra, and bananas were the present productions, while dairying, cottongrowing, and pineapples were coming future developments. He stated that a trial shipment of Fijian creamery butter to London had been favourably reported upon. The lecturer claimed that Fiji always acted upon the principle recently formulated by. the Colonial Oince in a. White Paper relating to Kenya, that the interests of the Natives were paramount. Sir C. H. Rodwell, Governor of Fiji who presided, paid a tribute to Mr' .Hedatrom as a member of one of the biggest mercantile firms in the Pacific.
