Fourteen of the balloons in the Gordon Bennett .race have landed -V l'rench aeronaut, M. Laporte, was'trapped m an air-pocket above Chateau Inierry, and remainded suspended mo- | tionless at a height of 9000 feet for eight hours. He jettisoned everything moveable in an effort to reach an upper aircurrent. Finally he let out gas and descended 5000 feet, when he drifted north and finally crossed the Channel, and ; landed at Shorcham. M. Laporte had I covered 200 miles.
