"GOLD NUGGETS NIGHT"

It is not often that gold nuggets can Ibo picked up at a ball in Wellington, bul such an inducement nevertheless is offored at the grand plain and fancy dress ball which will be held in the Town I Hall and Concert Chamber on Saturday evening next. The occasion will be the drawing of the Grand Art Union which was held in connection with the CitizenSoldiers' Pageant, the first prize ..being i for gold nuggets valued at £350, the' second for other nugget 3 valued at £30, and the third for still more nuggetß valued at £20. In addition, 25 prizes are offered at £1 each. All Wellington is interested in the drawing, which will take place on the main stage in the big hall, and will only occupy a few minutes. Otherwise the whole of the evening will jbe devoted to dancing, \ which will be ' continuous. Elaborate arrangements have j been mado for the decorating and lighti ing, and special prizes will be offered for i the best fancy chess costumes. . The whole of the proceeds of the ball will bo given to Gunnel' James Patrick, ■who lost his right hand as the result of an accident^ at the Pageant. Gunner Patrick, who is 19 years of uge, was a dyer by occupation, and owing to his injury ia now farced to choose a new career. He contemplates entering the University with this purpose ia tow.
