THE FARMER-LABOUR GROUP "TAINTED WITH BOLSHEVISM."' (UNITED PRBSS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND- CABLE ASSOCIATION^ NEW YORK, 16th June. A.telegram'from St.. Paul, Minnesota, says the Farmer Labour Party Conven- ' tion opens to-morrow. \ Apparently it is determined to designate 01V endorse for the United States Presidency ; a candi- • date who has already definitely/repudiated thb' party itself, i This is Senator La Folletfce, who has declared the organisation to be deeply tainted with Bolshevism.- . ■ Senator La Follette has his own .plans, and will probably launch* ,a third party J during the .so-called Progressive Nai tional Conveution on. 4th July. It is 1 understood that in the event of Senator,La Folletfce not being designated, the Farmer Labour Party will nominate Mr. Parley Christensen, who was the party's I3andidate in 1920. ■ < ■■■■-. The Airierican Federation of Labour has long repudiated the Farmer Labour Party; whose membership includes every variety of radical, especially the I.W:W., but its importance lies in the fact that these various /so-called third parties inevitably mean the weakening o£ the Republican ; and even the Democratic strength, thus increasing the possibility that no party will secure; a\majority in the Electoral College, so that the choice of President will be put upon Congress.
