The Government -has replied- to the Japanese I Note> which contains objections to certain -points involved. in the- agreement. The reply points out that the agreement adjusts matters regarding' which. China and Russia alone have rights and ; interests. The Chinese : Government, there!fore, cannot accept1, the reservations sug^ gested by the .Japanese Note. \ Almost,' similarly worded Notes have been sent' to the French and American Legations, I replying to their ;Notes, which reminded China of her obligations regarding the | Chinese Eastern, railway. ■'■'■ : ■ ■

By- the agreement ' China recognises the Soviets, and places the Chinese Eastern -Railway in the hands.of Russia, who takes, over the railway's debts. • China also" restores certain . Russian Govern.rnent property. -.The Soviets, in return, allocate' the Russian share of the: Boxer indemnity to a fund for the education of China. The Soviets also undertake not to transfer Russian concessions ' in China wholly, or in part to a third •Power.
