THE WINTER SHOW
JUMPING CONTEST TO BE HELD.
The secretary of the Winter Show reports that a sub-committee set up at Monday night's meeting to go into the I matter of holding a jumping contest visited Newtown Park and Lyall Bay yesterday morning, and have recommended to the committee that the horse jumping contests be held at Lyall Bay on Thursday, 10th July. Arrangements <yre ""W being niade for the obstacles. There is no doubt that this decisipn T,vill be ratified by the general tee. Nominations nave already heen received for some of the finest hunters in the North Island, including competitors iv. the ladies' hunting contest. The conimittee again approached the ' Reserves Committee of the City Council through its chairman with a view to obtaining Newtown Park for the sheep dog tnajg and the horse parade. The latter would toke place on the metalled roa.4 round the Park. This permission ha.s been granted, and the dog trials and horse paii-ade therefore take place at Aewtown Park on Friday, lith July. ■■■ ■- • _ The jumping competitions will be under a committee of country experts, and the dog tnab will be run under the authority of the North Island Sheep DoTrials Association.
