THE NEW IDEAL MILKING MACHINE.

See It at the Show.

Dairy farmers, generally speaking, are more interested in labour-saving devices than any other section o£ the community ; it is therefore little to be wondered at that milking machines are a tig feature at the present National Dairy Show. The New Ideal machine exhibited by Mr. E. M'lntyre, the well-known ] engineer, proprietor, and designer, of Palmerston North, seems to be the popular choice, and, judged in the light of the oft-expressed opinions of many practical dairy farmers who have used various makes, the New Ideal for aIL; practical purposes seems to be the best type of mechanical milker yet placed upon the New Zealand market. The. rcleaser with which the New Ideal is equipped has only two working parts, both of which are easily accessible for cleansing purposes^ ■ Fitted as it is with a special Baffle plate, it is utterly impossible for milk to get into the vacuum tank, a happening that has hitherto detracted from the merits of many other machines. In this and in other directions this mechanical milker, \vith its many new improvements on the old types, seems to fill the bill in every respect. It is indeed an ideal milking machine in name and nature alike', and shows a decided advancement on anything of this nature yet exhibited to a discerning public. Examined from stem to stern not a fault can be found with the_ New. Ideal. The ideal pulsators, which can either be driven mechanically cr automatically as preferred, form an important part of the machine, as they control the operations of the whole system, both teat cups and releaser. The separate pulsator for each cow can be adjusted to give long or short squeeze in the teat cups as required. The Idea) vacuum tank acts as a reservoir to maintain a steady vacuum through the system, and thus prevent an irregular action on. the cow's teats. Another important feature of this machine is th© vucuum pump. This is of the horizontal type, and double acting in operation, and so constructed that it may be fitted with, a special spiral gear to enable it to be readily fitted for electric motor drive if necessary. The New Ideal is a i beautifully-constructed and highly-fin-I ished machine, and is being exhibited in actual operation, being driven by a Lister engine. Mr. M'lntyre, the proprietor, is himself in charge of the exhibit, and will gladly illustrate the capa- [ bilities of this efficient and sanitary milker.
