SCOTLAND'S ATTITUDE
( Writing from New Zealand to the "Weekly Scotsman," two correspondents ("Highlander" and "Heriotonian") state: "An article has appeared in one of our leading newspapers here referring to the attitude of the Scottish Football Union in refusing to arrange a match with the All Blacks during their tour at the end of this year. We Scotsmen, who are settled out here have frequently been ridiculed over the seemingly unsportsmanlike attitude adopted. We fully appreciate the motives which moved the S.F.U. to take up this attitude ; but at .the same time, we feel sure that the amateur status of Scottish players would riot bo endangered by a meeting with the All Bleaks, who are the most noteworthy defenders of 'amateurism in this hemisphere. The article referred to states that the S.F.U. have not only insulted the All Blacks and the English Rugby Union but they have given the world a very bad impression of Scottish sportsmanship. This ■ you will agree is a very strong condemnation, which we colonial Scots would like to see repudiated, not only for the sake of the feeling which has been created but in the interests of Scottish Rugby."
