A message from San Pedro, California, says that a crowd of sailors and civilians angered by .disparaging remarks alleged to have been made by Radicals about the 48 men who were "killed in the explosion on the battleship Mississippi, wrecked the hall of the Industrial Workers of the World, while an entertainment was in progress. Two girls who were serving coffee \v e re 'scalded when a coffee urn was overturned, and a man who resisted the attackers was wounded. The crowd broke the windows and doors, and threw the furniture and fixtures into the street, where they were burned.

One of the turrets of the battleship Mississippi was blown up during gunnery practice.
