EDMOND STEEPLECHASE CUP.
(BI TELIGH.IPU i-UESS ASSOCIATION.) DTJNEDIN, 15th June. The five-mile steeplechase for the Edmond Cup, contented at the Wingatui racecourse on Saturday afternoon, was run on a very heavy course, and light showers fell for part of the lime. E. L. Brown was first man home, in 17 minutes—an exceptionally fine performance considering the heavy going. Brown made his first appearance, on the track this season, and promises to become a champion cross-country runner. A field of about 80 from eight clubs competed. Individual placings are as follow:—Brown (Civil ' Service), 1; Hobbs (Pacific, last year's winner). 2; Tapp (Caversham), 3; Cox (University), 4. _ Teams" result:—Anglican No. 1, "66 points, 1; Caversham, 104 points, 2; University, 105 points, 3. The Anglican Club retains.the cup, which it won last year.
