VICTORY FOR EAST COAST
PALMERSTON, 15th June. Manawatu was well beaten by 20 points to 9 on Saturday by Poverty Bay ni the representative Rugby match at Palmerston North. Poverty Bay was a much heavier side and raked Manawatu fore and aft, the home fifteen putting up a.very weak "defence. Langlands (centre, three-quarter) and Cowie (fullback) were the best, backs for Poverty Jiay and Manawatu respectively O*f the forwards, Scott (Poverty Bay) and Oariell{Manawatu) were head and shoalaers above their confreres. For Povand B. Whaitiri scored tries, Turtia conrerting all four. Law kicked a penalty goal for the losers, while Bailey and oecker got unconverted tries. Mr. A ihompson was referee.
