WADESTOWN CARS

|TO THE EDITOR. . Sir,—May 1 ask the Tramway authorities, per medium of your paper, why the first section of the Wadcstown line has been extended to the Grosvcnor terrace loop? If the idea is tn improve the takings on this line, then the council lias another guess coming, for the very opposite will he the result. To' shift a. section so short a distance and upset the established stopping places of. many years requires something more than the convenience of a few people. The Orchard street stop is the pivotal point for perhaps the largest number of passengers, and apart from that should be a compulsory stop in the interests of the safety of tho public. Further, it is stated that the council proposes to build a shelter shed at the Cirosvenor terrace loop, when the greater majority of residents of i \Vntt arid contiguous streets ore already ■well served by tho shelter ut the Higli-

land Park stop, and Orchard street is the logically correct place for a shelter for one placed there on the land already available would serve residents not only of Orchard street and Grosvenor terrace, but many Wadestown people who make a practice of joining the cars at this point, and will the council make further inquiries before putting up a comparatively useless shelter, as such it would bey if erected on the site at present proposed? In conclusion may I ask the Tramway authorities who was responsible for cutting out the Orchard street stop to-day, without notice of any kind? This uncalled-for action resulted in passengers, including little children, being overcarried, while others were left lamenting on the roadside to find out as best they could the reason for this extraordinary proceeding I am, etc., „„ , T RATEPAYER. 12th June.
