JEWEL ROBBERY
PERPETRATED IN BUSY STREET.

The jewel robbery reported yesterday' involved tactics of almost military precision, and occurred in a busy downtown street in Chicago. The robbers swiftly dragged the two custodians from the Customs wagon and beat them" until they became insensible, and then escaped with 27 packages of diamonds consigned to Tiffany's, valued at 250,000 dollars. The robbery occurred 90 yards from a. policeman.
The stolen jewels were being imported from Europe. When Foy, the driver of the truck, recovered consciousness, he found himself seven miles from town, where tne robbers had thrown him from their car.
