HEIGHT OF THE STORM
BARREN VICTORY OVER RECALCITRANTS.
(Received 13th June, 11 a.m.
CLEVELAND, I2th June. In a brief session, marked by a prolonged demonstration for Mr. Coolidge, the Republican Convention adopted its platform and 'rejected the La Toilette planks presented by the Wisconsin delegation. Throughout the demonstration in favour of Mr. Coolidge, the Wisconsin delegates remained silent, ignoring the catcalls, hisses, jeers, and shouts directed toward them from the marching throng and the galleries. The marching demonstrators were determined, and finally succeeded in getting the Wisconsin party on their feet by forming a circle round them and singing "The Starspangled Banner." Senator La Follette and. the delegates stood at attention during the singing, and then stolidly resumed their seats.
