HUTT-BOAD TRAFFIC;
A recommendation that an .additional member. of the staff be appointed for duty in traffic control on the Hutt road was made by the Finance Committee to the City Council last . evening.' The committee also recommended that "a motor-car be/purchased for the use of the inspector. The Mayor stated that a car was recommended, as two officera' might have to be on duty in the car it being difficult for one officer to secure convictions. . -..
: Councillor Luckie asked if traffic control on the road waa not a matter for the Koad Board. The council hdd been saddled With the executive control of the making of the new road, but it was not the only body concerned. There was going to,' be a lot of heavy, fast traffic on the new road. The'purchase of a car and the provision of additional labour should not be the expenditure of the council only. This; was properly chargeable to the board. .
