The; tragic ■ circumstances of the deatlT of Mr. W. H. Cross, assistant traffic inspector of the City Council, have aroused the sympathies of Wellington residents—those who 'personally knew the worth of the late officer, and those who respected • his excellent record . even though they may not have been acquainted with them. As a token of sympathy for the bereaved widow and, family, a grand benefit concert- has been arranged for Sunday evening next, commencing at 8.30 o'clock, in the Town Hall. Mr. H. Temple White has ar,ranged a- really fine programme, : The Wellington Professional Orchestra is taking part, also the Wellington JConimercial Travellers' Male Voice Choir. Misses 'Aileeii Noble "and Myra Sawyer will sing, also Messrs. Len. Barnes and C. A. Williams. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., will preside, and a collection will be taken up, during which Mr. H. Temple White ■will'play. A reference to the prograaime set out elsewhere in this issue will induce readers to-attend jn. large numbers to.pay their respects ; to the late Mr. Cross. "Messrs. H. ; Temple White and Frank -Crowther will conduct respectively the Male Cboir and .the"Professional Orchestra.
