New Zealanders will''be interested to hear that Mr. Albert Mallinson has been appointed by the 'Board of Trinity College of Music' (Lohdoh) 'to act as Ex-' aminer for the college' this -year in Newfoundland, Canada, and the North Island of New.Zealand. He .will'take practical subjects: Pianoforte, organ, violin, singing, elocution, ensemble playing, etc. '"■.■' For some years past Mr. Mallinson has identified himself closely -with Trinity College as ah examiner." He will leave England on 3rd, May for Newfoundland and Canada, and at Vancouver, on 2nd.July, he will join the Makura, so that he should arrive in Auckland about 20th July. Everyone in New Zealand, of course, is personally well acquainted with 'Mr. Mallinson's delightfulsongs, and , no. doubt the majority of residents have attended the recital tours given in the Dominion by -Mi. and Mr S r Mallinson. The latter was formerly Court Singer at the Court of Denmark, and when she first visited JNew Zealand she was Madame Bahnson Mr. Mallinson, who is a Yorkshireman, received his earliest musical training as .1 choir-boy in the Parish Church at Leeds^-under Dr. .AY. Creser (late Organist, Chapel Royal, St. James's): He has held many important organships, and his compositions include, chamber, or.chestral, and1 church' music: Tho examiner selected by the Board of Trinity College'for the South,lsland is Dr. John Warriner, F.T.C.L., who ■ttill take practical subjects: Pianoforte, orpan, violin, singing, elocution, etc. He will sail from Southampton on 3rd July byVtho Ruahine. Though his name is familiar as a writer and lecturer on music, it is as a teacher .that most of his time has been employed, many h'uifdreds of pupils having passed through his hands. After completing his general education at Trinity College, Dublin. Dr. Warrhier studied the pianoforte, violin, otgan, harmony, counterpoint, and composition with Sir Robert Stewart, of'Dublin^ and Mr.' George Riseley,- Bristol Cathedral. He graduated as Mus. Bac, Dublin University, in 1887, and as Mus. Doc. in 1892, when ho was the youngest professional musician holding that degree. Dr. Warriner was elected a member of the Board of Trinity College of Music in 1392, and since that date-has been engaged as a Professor of; Harmony. Pianoforte, Transposition; and Sight Reading in the college. He has also conducted the college classes for the training of 'teachers ■■■ of ' music, and is a.i examiner for the higher and local examinations. He is a recognised teacher of music' of the University of London; a member of the Faculty of Music, and of the Board of Studies in Music; aW a recognised teacher of pedagogy, as applied-to music, of the same university.
