IMPERIALISM.
(ABSTRALUN-NBW ZEALAND CABLE .ASSOCIATION.) LONDON,r4th May.
s The " Daily Herald," in an editorial entitled " Labour and. the Future of the Empire," stfys: "None of the Imperialists really understand the British Commonwealth of Nations. They are living, in the past, while ,-Lab our looks to the future and sees that common aims and ideals will be" a far stronger bond between Britain,^ the Dominions, and^ India than an artificial trade arrangement or • naval and military fetters. Labour recognises the fact that the days of the old exchange of manufactures for the colonies'- raw materials are passing and that the Dominions are seeking to manufacture their ownl, raw materials. . Free Trade within ,the Empire would be worth something, and might lead the worldHo Free Trade, but preferences are merely; politicians'- playthings, devisedchiefly, with the object of keeping the Empire together as: a war Power." .
