Riddeil, S.M., when entering judgment to-day in favour of the Standard- Insurance Company for ' £12 18s lid; the amount of a premium in cow-'----nection: with a policy on a motor-car taken ont by William Henry Cowlev It was stated by Mr. C/A. L- TreadweJJ, who appeared for .the defendant company, that Cowley had signed a proposal for a policy on his car, but .had failed in paying the premium. The pohpy had been posted to the defendant as also had been the 'monthly accounts for the pTemium, hut the defendant had' failed to make any payment. XJiving evidence, Gowley denied ever having received the policy or the accounts though he admitted having sighed -the proposal,.-and receiving. a cover note.. He said that-after receiving the coyer note he interviewed .a clerk "in the .Standard office, and told him that as he considered the premium (£l2 18s lid) was too high for the; amount the car . was covered (£175), he wanted to declare the deal off In giving judgment, the.; Magistrate said defendant made an: application to the company, which accepted ifc. -He was not satisfied defendant had rescinded'the policy. " Defendant has my sympathy as far as the premium is concerned " added the Bench, i'l think it is .'too high.
