The Toronto correspondent of "The Times" .says that the "Manitoba Free Press" applauds the attitude of Mr.. Mackenizo .King (the Prime Minister) and the Government over the Lausanne Treaty,' declaring that the decision not to ask Parliament to authorise the ratification of the Treaty constitutes a practical application of fii-st-class importance of a new procedure of treaty-mak-' iug by British nations. It points out that the principle behind the new theory is far-Teaching, as it .enables one or more British nation ito contract treaties with other countries without, involviri2 other British nations. which ore not particularly concerned. The "Montreal Gazette" contends''that as the Treaty ; is not of special interest to Canada, the Canadian Government properly reposed its full confidence in the British representatives, "Some' people have an idea that Canada should act as a world power, and insist on" having a voice in every important matter, and thus attract international attention. This is not necessary, either for- Canada's status, or comfort, or growth."
