WELLINGTON CENTRE MEETING

WILSON BENEFIT REALISES £150.

A meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening. Mr. A. C. Kitto presided, and there was a good attendance. The Rugby Union advised that the charge for the use of Athletic Park on the occasion of the H. E. Wilson benefit meeting would be half the usual charge. The centre passed a special motion of thanks. The Wairarapa Sub-Centre wrote stating that what the centre had never had it could not miss, and suggesting that the dues owing to the council should be remitted, as the sub-centre showed a deficiency on the year, principally on account of the American meeting. The application had been sent to the council, and was referred to the centre for recommendation. It was decided to take no action pending further communications from the sub-centre. Auckland Centre advised that later in the year they would open a communication with a view to arranging home and home athletic contests between Auckland and Wellington. The meeting decided to fall in with the suggestion, and endeavour to make arrangements for next season. The matter of reinstatements was discussed. Mr. Kitto said the council had no right to grant provisional reinstatement. A member suggested that they should bo asked under what rule such provisional reinstatement was granted. He suggested that it was under "Rafferty's rule." It was decided to protest against the delay in dealing with reinstatements. Concerning the H. E. Wilson benefit, the chairman said it was difficult to get a balance-sheet out, but it appeared as if the net proceeds would be something over £150. Mr. J. O'Sullivan, secretary, who controlled the Wellington team at the championships, reported on the good behavious of tire team and the success which was attained. Wellington gained about as many points as all the other teams gained in the aggregate. He also reported in detail on the annual conference.
