BOXING

The forthcoming 'contest between Fairhall and Uren is creating keen interest among followers of boxing, and this was reflected by tho heavy demand for seats when the booking plan opened yesterday morning. Owing to the 'iown Hall being under repair, next Monday's tournament is being held in the Grand Opera House. It is not possible there to follow the Town Hall practice of erecting a self-contained ring in the centre of tho ground floor, and, accordingly, the ring will be on the stage. Among the amateur preliminaries, more than average interest will be shown in tho appearance of the local heavyweight, M'Rae, opposed to Plamcs, the Auckland heavyweight champion. The latter recently arrived hero, and has created quire a good .impression, and there | appears little doubt but that he will full.ly extend the local heavyweight.
