The team . from the local University College had little difficulty in defeating Selwyn by 11 po { nts to nil The % throughout was' inclined •to be scrappy," particularly in the second spell, me teams were as follow:— \arsity (green): Blathwaite; Sutherland, Malfroy, Paul; Walpole, Britland, Hart; Mackenzie, Perryman. Whiteman, Martin-Smith, M'Rae, M'Williams. Joll. and Bollard. ' Selwyn . (green and black): Malm ; Jackson, M'Quade, Nickless; East<rate. vvogan; Scadden; Snell, Barr, Pike! kilpatrick, Reeves, Hendry, Bramlev; ana Rose. During the first spell, 'Varsity's superior combination stood them in good stead, and they were always able to turn defence into attack, and leave the • opposing forwards behind them. The try came through Joll securing from a loose rush in front of the Selwyn goal. He dived over and Blathwaite converted. 'Varsity 5, Selwyn 0. The college men had easity the better of the play up to the interval, and Blathwaite, by splendid penalty'kicking, added 6 more points to his team's tally. 'Varsity 11, Selwyn 0. . The-losers tried hard in the second spell, but their efforts lacked finish, and a halt was called without further score on. either side. Mr. A. Flynn controlled the game. . . I
